Tours of 'Astro-poems and vertical group exercises: Concrete Poetry at CSA'

To coincide with the exhibition 'Astro-poems and vertical group exercises: Concrete poetry at CSA' Chelsea Space is hosting a series of tours of the exhibition to take place on Wednesday 4 July 2-5pm, with Gustavo Grandal Montero giving a curator’s tour, a typography tour with Fraser Muggeridge and a performative tour of selected works with Nicola Simpson.
Fraser Muggeridge is a graphic designer, typographer, educator and curator, with an interest in the history of experimental graphic design in the 1960s and 1970s, including Concrete poetry.  He is director of Fraser Muggeridge Studio and founder of the Typography Summer School, held in London since 2010 and New York since 2013. He is a visiting lecturer at The University of Reading and Camberwell College of Arts, University of the Arts London.
Nicola Simpson is editor of The Cosmic Typewriter, The Life and Work of Dom Sylvester Houédard (Occasional Papers, 2012) and co-editor of Dom Sylvester Houédard (Ridinghouse and Richard Saltoun Gallery, 2017). The exhibitions that she has curated include Performing No Thingness (East Gallery, Norwich University of the Arts, 2016), The Cosmic Typewriter exhibition and symposium (South London Gallery, 2012) and The Yoga of Concrete (Norwich University of the Arts, 2010). Her research interests focus on Dom Sylvester Houédard and the influence of Zen and Vajrayana Buddhism on British Conceptual Art of the 1960s and 1970s.
Gustavo Grandal Montero is a librarian and special collections curator at University of the Arts London. His research interests include Concrete poetry, artists’ books and publishing, art ephemera and art libraries and archives. He convened the conference Concrete Poetry: UK networks and connections (Chelsea College of Arts, 2017) and has curated or co-curated several exhibitions, the latest Astro-poems and vertical group exercises: Concrete Poetry at CSA. He is currently a PhD candidate (The “Turn to language”: Concrete poetry and visual art in Britain in the 1960s) and Deputy Editor of the Art Libraries Journal.
