BA Acting Summer Shows 2018: The Changeling

Blurry black and white image of a person's eye

26 Jun - 30 Jun 2018

Beatrice doesn’t love the man she’s meant to marry, so she has him killed. But the killer wants more than money in return. Struggling to be free, Beatrice plunges ever deeper into corruption, surrendering to feelings she never knew she had.

With its film noir plot, its focus on obsession, repression and destructive desire, The Changeling is the most modern of all Jacobean tragedies. Our stripped-back production, heavily cut and relocated to the mid-twentieth century, will explore this modernity, and its central argument that what we repress will eventually destroy us.

Performed in repertoire with After Troy by Glyn Maxwell and directed by Sebastian Harcombe. A BA Acting production in collaboration with BA Performance: Design and Practice.
