6pm to 7.15pm

Meet ground breaking New York designer Anna Sui in conversation with Frances Corner, Head of London College of Fashion, Pro Vice-Chancellor, University of the Arts London.

On the eve of a major solo exhibition at the Fashion and Textile Museum, Anna Sui discusses what it means to be the first-ever American fashion designer to have a landmark retrospective in the UK. Since her first runway show in 1991, modelled by Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista and Christy Turlington, Sui has offered her own brand of catwalk rebellion. From her iconic babydoll dresses to rock ‘n’ roll androgyny, her references might be popular and playful, but her drive and vision have remained consistent: she has never pandered to anyone's expectations.

With contemporary designers now referencing the Nineties, expect a dynamic masterclass in how to realise your dreams in fashion. Sui describes her story, her design processes and how she has retained her independence.
