This roundtable discussion event will explore emotional intelligence within teaching and learning and the impact it has on students’ motivation, confidence, resilience and academic performance. With a correlation between emotional intelligence and design thinking, the case for emotional intelligence in design education is recognised by industry.

Led by the creator of the Trait Emotional Intelligence concept, Professor K.V.Petrides and the BA (Hons) Design Management and Cultures course at LCC, the event will use Trait Emotional Intelligence tools to demonstrate how students interpret their experiential, emotional and social learning.

BA (Hons) Design Management and Cultures applies critical thinking and design research methods to a range of projects and collaborations that address social, business and environmental needs. This event is part of the Professional Practice and Major Project units on the course.

Professor K.V.Petrides is Director of the London Psychometric Laboratory at University College London (UCL), where the Trait Emotional Intelligence research program is currently based.  His Trait Emotional Intelligence and Trait Social Intelligence Questionnaires (TEIQue and TSIQue) are used by organisations and individuals all over the world. His publications and scientific activities can be found at www.psychometriclab.com
