Sartorial Stories: Penny Martin

Penny Martin

26 Apr 2017

6.30pm to 8pm

As a part of our new series of events inspired by LCF Archives, join us for an In Conversation with Penny Martin, Editor-In-Chief of The Gentlewoman.
As well as her role as Editor-in-Chief of The Gentlewoman since the magazine’s launch in 2010, Penny Martin’s career has combined journalism, academia and curation. Through The Gentlewoman, Martin presents an ‘anti-fantasy’ ode to the ways in which women actually look, think and dress. This unique editorial approach, combined with Martin’s own diverse professional practice, are imbued by her distinctive viewpoint on contemporary fashion.

In our ‘Sartorial Stories’ series of In Conversations, Susanna Cordner, Senior Research Fellow – Archives, interviews leading figures from the fashion industry and invites them to bring in one item from their wardrobe or from their work. To show you how much an object can represent, and the different ways in which people think about and ‘read’ their clothes, depending on their expertise, this item then forms the basis of the conversation.

Please note: this event takes place at Arcade East, at London College of Fashion's Mare Street site in Hackney.

Booking is required. To reserve a free space, please register via EventBrite.
