Tea Rooms

Hashiguchi Architect & Associates, Paper Tea House

An installation of four 2x2x2m Tea Rooms designed and constructed by first year BA Interior and Spatial Design students at Chelsea. Coinciding with London Craft Week, each tea house will explore a different materility and making process.

The project is has been developed by the Japan Society with Shinichiro Hashiguchi of Hashiguchi Architect and Associates, and will be a collaboration involving architect Takeshi Hayatsu and BA Interior and Spatial Design staff and students led by Shibboleth Shechter.

The Japan Society will host a Japanese tea ceremony in Shinichiro Hashiguchi’s Open Weave Tea Room, from 6pm on 4 May. You can book to attend the ceremony on the London Craft Week website.
