Echoes from the Birdcage
is the world premiere of a new composition to emerge from Dame Evelyn Glennie’s time as the PRS Foundation and Kings Cross Musician in Residence. Written by Jill Jarman in collaboration with Dame Evelyn Glennie.

Echoes from the Birdcage tells a story of Kings Cross in six movements, informed by different aspects of the area, and inspired by the writings and sounds collected by the Kings Cross community.

In motion, Global chant, and The spaces in-between are just a few of the named movements, depicting travel, cultural diversity and quiet spaces (e.g. Skip garden).

‘An amazing sound world is created by percussionist Evelyn Glennie with an ensemble of musicians bringing to life the sounds and emotions of the transformation of King’s Cross.’ (Martin Collins – Producer)

‘Energy, colour, light, and sound, dancing up and around a vertical landscape, relentless movement, combined with quiet and beautiful spaces inform the musical piece Echoes from the Birdcage’. (Jill Jarman – Composer)

Performance times:
2.30 and 7.30pm

CSM staff and students tickets - £10
