5.30pm to 7pm
UAL Professor Emeritus Pamela Howard OBE is a visual artist, theatre director, scenographer, curator and writer, currently working primarily with international opera and music theatre projects. Author of What is Scenography, now translated in seven languages, she is also visiting Professor at Arts University Bournemouth and International Chair in Drama at Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.
Pamela will discuss the drawing processes explored as part of the creation of her new music theatre piece, developed from nothing into an international production, through a journey that involved music composition, devising a dramatic text as well as the creation of a space and the costumed characters within it.
She will focus in particular on how her design practice, which, by anticipating staged moments, permits her to forge unique exchanges and artistic collaborations while also enabling the expression of the social and political reasons for making the work in the first place.
This event is organised by the LCF Design for Performance Hub.
